Frequently Asked Questions

1. What are the advantages of having a website design based on a template?

The major advantage is that by letting us design your site based upon the template you choose, you have an excellent idea of what your website will look like before you pay a single dollar, as opposed to paying a designer to come up with half a dozen design concepts that you may not like.

In addition, your website can be finished in a shorter timespan, since we are customizing a template to your specifications, as opposed to designing a website from scratch. It might take a good designer 5-15 days to come up with design concepts of similar quality from scratch.

Lastly, you save money since you are only paying to customize your chosen template to your specifications, not to design a site from scratch.

2. What do I receive when I have my website designed around a template?

You receive the website files we create based on your chosen template for your site plus a license allowing you to use your template-based design on a single website.

3. What am I allowed and not allowed to do with a site designed around a template?

You may:

  • Modify the design or content in any way you like on a single website.

You may not:

  • Resell or redistribute the design of either the original design template (like we do) or the modified design used on your website.
  • Claim intellectual or exclusive ownership to the design, modified or unmodified. All templates are property of content providing companies and individuals.
  • Create another site based on either the original template or the customized site based on the template design (you would have to acquire another license to use the template design on another site).

4. What is the difference between an exclusive and a non-exclusive license?

Non-exclusive license: the original design template that your site design is based upon may be used by our future customers as a basis for their websites.

Exclusive license: you will be the last customer entitled to use that design as a basis for your website design. Only you and the customers who were licensed to use that design before you will be entitled to continue using it.

5. Is it reasonable to pay extra to be the last person with rights to a design that is already being used by previous customers?

Yes. Because there is very small chance that you will find the same design on the Internet. There are more than 3,000,000,000 webpages online now according to statistics on www.google.com.

6. Is the license a one-time fee payment?

Yes, the cost of the license is included in our web design fee. It gives you the right to continued use the design on a single website.

7. I want to have my website designed around a particular template, but it is not displayed on your site anymore.

Somebody may have purchased an exclusive license for that design, making it unavailable to other customers. Look for similar templates in our collection of quality HTML and Flash design templates!

8. I may want to modify my website on my own at some point. Can I do that? What software do I need?

You can modify your site as much as you like so long as you use the design only on as many sites as you have licenses for the original design template.

HTML files can be edited using a simple text editor such as notepad; or with sophisticated web design applications such as Macromedia Dreamweaver™ ( www.macromedia.com) or Microsoft FrontPage™ (www.microsoft.com).

To edit Flash sites, or Flash animations within an HTML site, you will need to use Macromedia Flash™ (www.macromedia.com).

9. When I try to open the flash fla file, I get an error Unexpected file format.

This means that .fla file is incompatible with your version of Flash. Please install Flash MX to edit this file or get in touch with our support personnel to have the file converted to appropriate version.

10. Can I edit flash websites in Swish?

No. Websites based on flash templates can be edited only with Macromedia Flash™.

11. Can I change the pictures on my flash animated website?

Yes, you can. You will need Macromedia Flash™ (www.macromedia.com) to do this.

12. I was wondering if you could give me the contact info for a particular designer?

Sorry, our corporate policy prohibits direct contact with contractually obligated designers.
